More about
Vérité

Vérité began in 1985, founded by a group of Aurovilians, who wanted to explore what it means to live, learn, work and develop integrally.

Keenly aware of living on a planet unable to withstand the increasing demands made by human consumption and destruction, they also believed that inherent in humanity are the capacities to secure a future of truth, beauty and harmony.

Recognizing they were living in a time of exceptional urgency to help preserve and nurture the bio-diversity essential for all life and evolution, the first Vérité settlers began by revitalizing 22 acres of barren land in Auroville’s Industrial Zone.

Inspired by the Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, and guided by the ideals of Auroville, the Vérité project was built on the cornerstones of sustainability, community, health and healing and spiritual practice.

The field of inquiry in Vérité is integral development, quintessentially in its relationship to:

  • the establishment of conscious contact with our “essence”, the psychic being
  • the emergence of a collective intelligence able to foster a synergistic relationship between humanity and nature
  • the realization of unity in diversity, both in Auroville and throughout the world
