Why Yoga Works: An Experiential & Scientific Exploration
with Dharani
Explore how mindful movement, breath, & attention influence our musculoskeletal, nervous, respiratory, circulatory & endocrine systems. Gentle yoga practices, simple scientific models, & guided reflection to bridge intellectual understanding with embodied awareness. Open to all; no prior knowledge of anatomy or physiology required.
Yoga is often described as therapeutic, balancing, or transformative — but what’s actually happening inside the body?
This workshop offers an experiential exploration of why yoga works, grounded in the principles of anatomy and physiology. We'll explore how mindful movement, breath, and attention influence key systems in the body, including:
The musculoskeletal system: posture, tension, and mobility
The nervous system: stress response, vagal tone, and regulation
The respiratory system: breath mechanics and energy regulation
The circulatory and endocrine systems: how yoga supports internal balance and resilience
You’ll learn through a combination of gentle yoga practice, simple scientific models, and guided reflection — bridging intellectual understanding with embodied awareness.
Inspired by the wisdom from scriptures and informed by contemporary science, this workshop is designed for anyone curious about the deeper processes behind yoga.
No prior knowledge of anatomy or physiology required. Open to all.
